The ruling Congress won two Rajya Sabha seats in Rajasthan while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won one seat in the Rajya Sabha elections held on Friday.
KC Venugopal and Neeraj Dangi of the Congress and Rajendra Gehlot of the BJP were elected to the upper house from Rajasthan without any cross-voting.
Madhya Pradesh
In Madhya Pradesh, BJP’s Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sumer Singh Solanki and Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh have been elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.
Gujarat
The BJP won three Rajya Sabha seats from Gujarat while the Congress scored one seat. BJP leaders Narhari Amin, Ajay Bhardwaj, Ramilaben Bara and Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil have been elected as the Rajya Sabha member from the state.
Andhra Pradesh
All the four Rajya Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh have won by the ruling YSR Congress Party.
Meghalaya
Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) candidate Dr WR Kharlukhi today won the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Meghalaya defeating Congress candidate Kennedy Khyriem.
Jharkhand
NDA candidate & State BJP President Deepak Prakash and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Chief Shibu Soren win the RajyaSabha Polls.
Mizoram
Mizo National Front candidate K Vanlalvena elected to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Mizoram
Manipur
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Manipur with 28 votes. BJP candidate Leisemba Sanajaoba defeated Congress’s candidate T Mangibabu.
The outcome Gujarat is still awaited. Voting for 19 vacant Rajya Sabha was held on Friday. The polls, which were to be held on March 26, were deferred in view of COVID-19 outbreak.
Before Friday’s voting, the NDA had 91 of the 245 Rajya Sabha seats, the Congress-led UPA had 61. The other opposition and the non-aligned parties together had 68 seats.
