Facebook-owned social messaging platform Whatsapp messenger has developed a digital payment feature for Brazil. With 120 million users, Brazil is app’s second-largest market globally.

Facebook has partnered with Brazil’s Cielo SA to process the transactions. While the service will be free for its users, it would be chargeable for business owners. Besides paying bills virtually, the facility would also enable money transfers.

Whatsapp has been involved in research and development of the product in the last two years.
