Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi Palaniswamy, on Tuesday announced, that the class 10 board exams shall be cancelled and all students will be promoted automatically.
The board exams that were due to have begun on June 15, 2020, stands cancelled along with the remaining papers of Class 11.

The opposition parties including DMK had called on the CM to cancel the exams due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state.
However, the exams for class 12 have been postponed.
Addressing a Press Conference, the CM announced that 80% of the marks shall be awarded to the students based on the quarterly and half yearly exams and the remaining 20% from their attendance record and other factors.
The CM also said that medical experts have warned that there were no signs of this virus transmission slowing down.
The Class 12 board exams have been postponed and a fresh schedule will be announced soon.
At present, Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases to the tune of approx 33, 229.
The Union Territory of Puducherry too has announced the cancellation of the Class 10 board exams.
