Fact Check: Morphed 2016 picture shared as a recent one from the #BlackLivesMatter protest in the US

A picture of a few protestors carrying placards is doing the rounds on the internet. The text on one of the placards read, ‘We are not Arabs, to kill us and keep silent’.

The caption suggests that the picture is taken during the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests in the US.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we found a report by Aljazeera, dated August 6, 2016, featuring the same picture.

The caption of the picture read, ‘File: Racial equality protests have grown in 2016 as more black people are killed by US police [Joshua Roberts/Reuters]’.

It becomes clear in the FAKE vs REAL collage that the picture in question in morphed. Text on the placard in the original picture read, ‘STOP KILLING US’.
