COVID-19 | Top 10 developments in India this Monday

India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 2,56,611 on Monday after 9,983 new cases — highest single-day spike– were reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll now stands at 7,135, an increase of 206 deaths.

The country has now 1,25,381 active cases and 1,24,095 people have been cured/discharged so far.

Here are the top 10 developments in India this Monday:

1. India has opened the doors of public places like malls, restaurants and places of religious significance on Monday.

2. 1,007 COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths reported in Delhi on Monday. Total number of cases in the national capital is now at 29,943, including 17,712 active cases, 11,357 recovered/discharged and 874 deaths: Delhi Health Department

2. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today directed the departments and agencies to not deny treatment to non-residents of the city, effectively striking down the AAP government’s decision on the reservation of hospital beds taken on Sunday.

3. 2,553 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 109 deaths recorded in Maharashtra today, taking the total number of cases to 88,528 & death toll to 3,169. Number of active cases stands at 44374: Maharashtra Health Department

4. 1562 COVID-19 cases reported in Tamil Nadu today. Total number of cases in the state is now at 33,229, including 15,413 active cases, 17,527 recovered, and 286 deaths: State Health Department

6. 30 new positive cases reported in Goa today, taking the total number of positive cases to 330, including 263 active cases and 67 recovered: Goa Health Department

7. 426 more COVID-19 cases reported in West Bengal today. Total number of cases in the state is now at 8,613, including 4743 active cases, 3465 discharged, and 405 deaths: State Health Department

8. Mizoram CM announced a total lockdown of 2 weeks starting from today midnight.

9. 198 more COVID-19 cases reported in J&K today, 33 from Jammu and 165 from Kashmir. Total number of cases in the Union Territory is now at 4285, including 2916 active cases, 1324 recovered & 45 deaths: J&K Government

10. 31 more COVID-19 cases reported in Uttarakhand today, as of 9 pm. Total number of cases in the state is now at 1,411, including 714 discharged and 13 deaths: State Health Department
