Date:

A picture of RSS members with bottled water at a railway station is doing the rounds on social media with a claim that they are now selling drinking water at high rates to make money at the time of crisis.

” Sanghi chaddis are selling drinking water at exorbitant rates at railway stations to make fast bucks. Shame on these sanghi leeches who posses zero humanity and ethics.#BanRSS #BanRSS_😡” – the caption read.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the claim to be false.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found the same picture on the official Twitter handle of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Ministry for the Development of North-Eastern Region.

#RSS Swayam Sevaks, at Railway Station, distributing water to migrant workers going back to their home in trains, ” the tweet read.

We also found several media reports and tweets, indicating that RSS has been providing essential items and help to migrant workers at different locations. They were not selling the items as written in the false claim.

The above information proves that the viral picture is being shared with a misleading narrative.
