Fact Check: This woman is not travelling in Shamik Special train; here’s the truth

Date:

A video of a woman sitting and travelling between two train bogies and carrying an infant in her arms, is doing the rounds on the internet. The claim attached to it is that the video is from India.

The caption suggests that the train in the video is the Shramik Special train, started by the government to ferry migrants stranded in various parts of the country, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, to their native places.

The caption of the post reads: ‘See it…. These are the people from whom the country develops … These working people are going to their homes at the risk of their lives…@PMOIndia @AUThackeray @CMOMaharashtra @OfficeofUT @PiyushGoyal @narendramodi‘.

FACT CHECK

When Newsmobile team did a fact check on the video, we found that the claim is FAKE.

Government sources confirmed that the video is old and not related to COVID-19.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) in a tweet, explicitly clarified, that it is an old video from before 2016, from Bangladesh and not India.

Hence, the above information proves that the video is at least four years old and not from India or related to COVID-19 outbreak.
