COVID-19 | Top 10 developments in India this Monday

With 5,242 COVID-19 cases being reported in the last 24 hours, India has recorded the biggest single-day jump on Monday, taking the total of cases in India to 96,169.

Here are the top 10 developments in India this Monday:

1. The number of active coronavirus cases in the country now stood at 56,316 while 36,824 have recovered. In the past 24 hours, 2,715 recovered from coronavirus while 157 dead.

2. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that bus service in the capital will resume but only 20 passengers will be allowed at a time.

2. “Barbershops, spas and salons to remain closed for now. People will be allowed to step out of their homes between 7 am to 7 pm only. Taxis and cabs will be allowed, but only with 2 passengers at a time,” he announced.

3. Auto and cab services will be allowed to operate in Hyderabad. In autos, 2 passengers and in cabs, 3 passengers will be permitted. Salons can operate in all areas excluding containment zones. E-Commerce activities can also function 100% in the state: Telangana CM KC Rao

4. Union Health Ministry has issued guidelines on preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in workplace settings.

5. “PM Modi personally monitored situation and ensured a preemptive, proactive and graded response, leaving no stones unturned to contain the deadly virus from spreading. India took all necessary steps well in time,” Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said at the 73rd World Health Assembly via vide-conference.

6. Kerala on Monday reported 29 new coronavirus cases out of which 21 came from abroad and seven from other states. No recoveries in the last 24 hours. Active cases now stand at 130.

7. 99 more COVID-19 cases reported in Karnataka today. Total number of cases in the state is now at 1246, including 678 active cases & 38 deaths (including one due to ‘non-COVID cause’): State Health Department

8. We are not lifting lockdown because if we do that now, we may have to face unending lockdown in future: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray

9. CBSE today released revised date sheet for the remaining Class 12 examinations. It also released dates for the remaining Class 10 papers.

10. 259 new positive cases reported today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 4977: Madhya Pradesh Health Department
