At least eight migrant labourers died and around 50 received injuries after the truck they were travelling in collided with a bus in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna on Thursday around 3 am.
The injured persons are undergoing treatment at the district hospital. The incident occurred in Cantt PS area of Guna.
In another incident, six migrant workers were run over by a UP government bus on a highway in the Muzaffarnagar district on Wednesday night. The workers had been walking to their hometown in Bihar from Punjab amid the coronavirus lockdown, police said.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced Rs 2 lakh each ex-gratia to next of the kin of the deceased and compensation of Rs 50,000 each to injured.
Officers have been directed to send bodies of the workers to Bihar. Saharanpur Divisional Commissioner has been asked to submit a report after investigation.

“They were labourers from Bihar. 6 people died. Their postmortem has been done. Their bodies will be sent to their relatives in Bihar. 4 people were injured, 2 of these were released after first aid. The bus driver has been arrested,” Muzaffarnagar ADM (Finance) Alok Kumar said.
