COVID-19: Top 10 developments in India this Saturday

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India climbed to 59,662 on Saturday, including 39,834 active cases and 17,847 people who have recovered.

According to the figures released by the Health Ministry on Saturday morning, the death now toll stands at 1,981.

Here are the top 10 developments in India this Saturday:

1. Vande Bharat Mission: About 177 Indian onboard an Air India flight took off from Malaysia’s Kuala Lampur for Trichy in Tamil Nadu.

2. Earlier in the day, around 129 nationals arrived in Delhi from Dhaka in an Air India repatriation flight.

3. As many as 62 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in CRPF today, taking the total cases in the paramilitary force to 234 out of which 231 are active cases: CRPF

4. With 1,165 new coronavirus cases and 48 deaths reported today, the total number of positive cases in the state rose to 20,228: Maharashtra Health Department

5. In the last 24 hours, Gujarat has reported 394 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of positive cases to 7,797, including 2,091 cured and 472 deaths: Gujarat Health Department.

6. The number of COVID-19 cases reached 675 in Haryana, including 290 recoveries and nine deaths. Number of active cases stands at 376. The doubling rate of cases in the state is nine days: Haryana Health Department

7. 526 new cases of coronavirus and four deaths have been reported in Tamil Nadu today, taking the total number of cases to 6535 and death toll to 44. Number of active cases stands at 4,664 in the state: Tamil Nadu Health Department

8. The number of COVID-19 cases reached 3,457 in Madhya Pradesh, with 116 new cases being reported today. Out of the total cases, 1,480 patients have recovered while 211 others succumbed to the infection.

9. On the request of state government, the Centre has agreed to run a special train from Thivim/Margao/Karamali (Goa) to Una to facilitate the movement of around 1204 people of Himachal Pradesh stranded in Goa. Train to run on 13th or 14th May: Himachal Pradesh CMO

10. Puducherry government has decided to keep the liquor shops in Puducherry shut until May 17.
