India on Monday summoned Pakistan’s top diplomat in Delhi and issued a demarche regarding the recent judgment of the Pakistan Supreme Court regarding Gilgit Baltistan in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
The Pakistan Supreme Court had earlier given the permission to conduct General Elections in the illegally occupied territories.

The Pakistani diplomat was told in no uncertain terms that Gilgit- Baltistan is an integral part of India and has been illegally occupied by Pakistan.
Pakistan was asked to vacate the territories and the Supreme Court of Pakistan was asked not to interfere in India’s internal affairs.
The Ministry of External Affairs said: “India lodged a strong protest to Pakistan against Supreme Court of Pakistan’s order against so-called Gilgit Baltistan”.
“India also strongly rejected attempts to bring material changes into the region”.
India’s position is guided by the Parliamentary resolution of 1994 that reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.
