Mumbai Police has given notice to Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami under CrPC 41A to join the investigation of the FIR registered by Congress Minister Nitin Raut against him for his statement on Congress President Sonia Gandhi during a live news show.
This FIR was originally filed in Nagpur but Supreme Court had ordered to transfer this matter to Mumbai.

Reacting to the notice, Goswami states that he would ‘cooperate with the investigation as a law abiding citizen’. He also stated that he would urge the Mumbai Police to ‘show similar alacrity and a sense of immediacy’ in investigating the attack on his wife and himself.

“The Mumbai Police has sent me 2 notices in the last 12 hours saying they want to immediately interrogate me regarding my comments on Sonia Gandhi. As a law abiding citizen I will cooperate with the investigation, subject myself to interrogation tomorrow morning. I would also urge the Mumbai Police to show similar alacrity and a sense of immediacy in investigating the attack on me and my wife, also a senior colleague at Republic TV at 12:15 am on 23rd of April, 2020. Despite my repeated requests the Mumbai Police has refused to mention the role of the Vadra Congress and its leadership in instigating the attack, carrying out the attack, and celebrating the attack. In order to ensure that the role of the Vadra Congress in the attack is not erased, I am sharing further facts with the Mumbai Police. I am sure that the Mumbai Police will not sidestep the detailed evidence available on the role of the Vadra Congress and delete the element of conspiracy and assault in the attack.”
Significantly, in a letter sent to the police, a copy of which is available with NewsMobile, Goswami disclosed that despite the admission made by the attacker that they were youth Congress workers and were sent to attack him to ‘teach him a lesson’ no action has been taken.
Goswami has filed a police complaint wherein he had stated that he and his wife were attacked on Ganpatrao Kadam Marg at around 12.15 am on Thursday, while travelling back home from the Republic TV studio located in Mumbai’s Lower Parel area.
He is to appear before Police in Mumbai tomorrow at 9 am.
