US President Donald Trump has suggested researchers try putting disinfectants into patients’ bodies as they could potentially be used to treat coronavirus.
Trump said researchers should try to apply their findings to coronavirus patients by inserting light or disinfectant into their bodies.
During Thursday’s White House coronavirus task force briefing, he said, “Is there a way we can do something like that by injection, inside, or almost a cleaning?” “It would be interesting to check that,” he added.

After his remark, a leading disinfectant producer has issued a strong warning not to use its products on the human body. Lysol and Dettol maker Reckitt Benckiser said “under no circumstance” should its products be injected or ingested.
“Our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines. Please read the label and safety information,” the company said in a statement.
The US has reported over 869,170 Covid-19 cases and nearly 50,000 deaths.
