India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today spoke to his counterparts from Russia, Brazil, United States, Saudi Arabia and Oman and said that ”strong friendships thrive even virtually”.

In his conversation with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Jaishankar discussed the forthcoming BRICs Foreign Ministers Meeting. He also reviewed recent developments pertaining to Afghanistan. ”Our cooperation on coronavirus reflects our special friendship,” he said.
The External Affairs Minister also said that he had a “productive conversation” with Brazil’s Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo in which he reviewed in detail the follow up of Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro’s visit. The EAM also exchanged notes on global issues, including the coronavirus pandemic.

During their conversation, the EAM and United States’ Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed the responses of both India and US to the coronavirus pandemic and the importance of international cooperation. ”Working closely on its implications and consequences. Also exchanged views on the Afghanistan situation,” the EAM tweeted.
Jaishankar also spoke to Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal and thanked him for “taking care of the Indian community” in Saudi Arabia. Both leaders also discussed their shared interest in ensuring health and food security. “India will remain a reliable partner,” the EAM said.
The EAM also had a talk with Oman’s Foreign Minister Yusuf Alawi and appreciated Oman taking care of the Indian community there. ”As trusted partners, assured him of India’s support in the collective fight against coronavirus,” the EAM tweeted.
