FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video and found that it is OLD.

We extracted the keyframes of the video and put it through Reverse Image Search. We found the same video on Vimeo uploaded on July 31, 2018.

Video depicting crazy behaviors of gullible plate, bowels, spoons licking Bohrasplate-licking Bohras 2 from Asghar Vasanwala on Vimeo.

As per the description, the video is of the Bohra community. The description also states that in Bohra culture, they believe in ‘not wasting even a single grain of food’ and hence were licking the cutlery.

We also found an article by The Outlook, featuring an image, where people can be seen sitting in a similar fashion, in similar attire, eating from a thali.

Even though NewsMobile couldn’t independently verify the origin of the video, it can safely be said that the video is OLD and is not related to COVID-19.
