Chennai: An otherwise teeming Anna International Airport and Kamaraj Domestic airport is now resembling empty spaces as over 84 international and domestic flights have been cancelled due to the ongoing effects of the deadly Coronavirus.
50 international flights and 34 domestic flights have been cancelled and this number is only expected to increase in the coming times.
As per data available, over 4500 passengers have cancelled their tickets to destinations such as Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Many airlines are now offering refund of cancellations charges and flexi booking scheme.
Singapore International airlines is offering this option to all travelers who will be flying with the airline till March 31.
Chennai is also one of the major international transit hubs in the region and boosts of a solid international connectivity to regions around the world, especially to the South-East Asian region, South Asian nations such as Sri Lanka and Maldives and the West Asian region.
It attracts many international passengers as it is also a hub of medical tourism.
India has seen a spike in the number of COVID-19 related cases. Tamil Nadu has reported two positive cases till date.
As of Thursday, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that India has a total of 169 positive cases.
