Fact Check: This video of mob hurling stones at police is not from Delhi

Date:

A video in which people can be seen hurling stones on Police is being shared on social media with a claim that it is from the recent Delhi riots.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the claim to be false.

On taking out the keyframes of the video and running them through Reverse image search, along with a combination of few keywords like ‘police, stone-pelting’, we found the same video on YouTube.

TV9 Gujarati uploaded the same video on Dec 19, 2019. “Anti-CAA protest in Shah-e-Alam area, Protesters pelted stones on Police van | Ahmedabad – Tv9” the caption read.

We also found a news bulletin by Republic TV on the same dated Dec 2019.

The above information proves that the video is old and is from Gujarat and NOT Delhi.
