On putting the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, we came across several news reports with the screengrab of the same video.

A report by Tamil WedDunia suggested that the incident took place in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai where a soldier attempted to commit suicide following the death of his wife.

On digging further we found another report by The Times of India dated January 8th, 2020 confirmed that the incident took place on January 07th, 2020.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in Budget her speech on February 01st 2020, proposed to sell a part of the government’s stake in LIC.

In conclusion, the above information proves that first, the incident took place in Madurai NOT Surat and man’s suicide attempt is not related to selling of LIC, as the incident took place weeks before the announcement.
