Karnataka to set up world’s first ‘Centre for Internet of ethical things’: CM at Davos 2020

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Monday signed an informal agreement with the World Economic Forum (WEF) which will see Karnataka setting up a ‘Centre for Internet of Ethical Things’.

The Center will help evolve ethics in Business, trade and prevent the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
The was agreed upon at the ongoing World Davos Summit in Switzerland.

It will be the first such center not only in India but also in the world.

In recent times, business leaders and policy makers have been concerned about the misuse of technologies associated with AI.

“Investors around the globe are worried about unethical practices in business and a center is the need of the hour,” said WEF’s Managing Director Murat Sonmez.

If Karnataka government is serious about securing investment, it should set up the center immediately,” he added.

The Karnataka Chief Minister also suggested a quick informal agreement between the two sides be signed. Sonmez then drafted a quick informal agreement on a piece of paper and the two signed it.

Jagadish Shettar, the Minister for Industries and Vijay Bhaskar and the Chief Secretary of the state were also present.

This center will go a long way in the history of Karnataka’s industrial development”. Sonmez said.

At the inauguration of the Karnataka pavilion, CM promised the investors to facilitate the “Ease of Doing Business” and called to promote strategic research which will enhance the industrial development of the state.

He said that Karnataka has the potential to not just become the most industrialized state of India but also a major center of the world.
