Fact Check: This picture of people burning Indian flag is not from India

Amid the recent anti-CAA protests, a picture of a few men burning the Indian flag is being shared online implying that the picture is from the latest protests.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture and found that it is an OLD picture from Pakistan.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found an article published in the Goable News featuring the same image. ” Protesters torch an Indian flag in the city of Multan in Pakistan on Nov. 23, 2016. . SS MIRZA/AFP/Getty Images,” the caption of the picture read.

We found the original image on the Getty Images website. “Pakistani protesters torch an Indian flag during a demonstration in Multan on November 23, 2016, against the cross border firing by Indian troops. The above information proves that the picture is an OLD image from Pakistan and hence is not related to the recent anti-CAA protests.
