As 2019 comes to end and 2020 is just around the corner, Google has revealed what Indians were most curious to know in 2019.
From cricket to politics to entertainment, here are the top 10 things that India googled in 2019.
1. Cricket World Cup
The Cricket World Cup was India’s most-searched-for term in 2019.
2. Lok Sabha Elections
Held between April and May, the 17th Lok Sabha elections were the second most searched thing in 2019.
3. Chandrayaan 2
India’s Moon mission became the top third searched term in India in 2019. The Vikram Lander successfully separated from Chandrayaan-2 Orbiter on September 2.
4. Kabir Singh
Widely criticised yet successful, Bollywood movie Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, occupies the fourth spot on this list.
5. Avengers: Endgame
Not just Bollywood, Indians were eager to know about Hollywood too. Superheros movie Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ was the fifth most-Googled term of 2019 in India.
6. Article 370
Article 370, that granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, was scrapped on August 5 this year and was the sixth most searched item in 2019.
7. NEET results
Results for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) became the seventh most trending topic of 2019 in India.
8. Joker
Another Hollywood movie, Joaquin Phoenix’s critically-acclaimed ‘Joker’ made it to India’s list of most-searched-for terms in 2019.
9. Captain Marvel
A Hollywood flick, Captain Marvel claimed the ninth spot on this list.
10. PM Kisan Yojana
Launched on February 24, 2019, this initiative by the Centre provides all small and marginal farmers up to Rs 6,000 per year as minimum income support. It was at number 10 on Google’s list of the most-searched-for terms in India.
