The House Judiciary Committee on Friday drafted articles of impeachment against US President Donald Trump for a full House vote for abusing his powers.
Democrats and Republicans in the Committee voted along strict party lines, 23 to 17, appearing sombre as they put Trump on track to become only the third president to be impeached in US history.
Trump is accused of abusing his presidential power by asking Ukraine to investigate his 2020 rival, Joe Biden while holding military aid as leverage. He is also accused of obstructing Congress by blocking the House’s efforts to probe his actions.
