FM Nirmala Sitharaman is more powerful than Queen Elizabeth and Ivanka Trump in this Forbes list

Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women 2019 list went to female political leaders, businesswomen, singers among others who have created a space for themselves in the world.

Indian Politician and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is a newcomer on the Forbes most powerful women list bagged the 34th spot while Queen Elizabeth ranked 40th and Ivanka Trump was positioned at 42nd.

Among other Indians, HCL CEO and Executive Director Roshni Nadar Malhotra and Biocon CEO Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw are also among the world’s 100 most powerful women listed by Forbes.

The Forbes list was headed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel who is the top-ranked woman for the ninth year in a row and is followed by President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde while Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi came third.

While Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was positioned at 29th.

Forbes said that women around the globe took action and claimed leadership positions in government, business, philanthropy and media in 2019 and that these trailblazers are not to be messed with.

CEO of Biocon Kiran Mazumdar Shaw who was ranked 65 on the list is India’s richest self-made woman and founder of the largest biopharmaceutical firm in India. She has invested in research and scientific talent to build a deep R&D-based biotech firm Forbes said.

The Forbes list also includes Melinda Gates, IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern.

Singers like Rihanna, Beyonce and Taylor Swift are also a part of the list.

Tennis player Serena Williams and 16-year-old environmental activist Greta Thunberg also bagged a spot on the list.
