Alcohol and alcoholic beverages and products will not be sold in the city starting from 6 pm on December 3rd to 6 pm on December 5th.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao announced these prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, ahead of the by polls to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
Five Legislative Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru city will be voting on December 5th. These five constituencies are the following: Chikballapur, KR Pura, Yeshwantapura, Mahalakshmi layout and Shivajinagar.

Overall in Karnataka, 15 Legislative Assembly constituencies will be voting on December 5th in the by polls. This has been necessitated as 17 legislators from the ruling party resigned in July 2019, which led to the defeat of HD Kumaraswamy’s government and brought BJP’s BS Yeddyurappa into power.
The BJP will have to win at least seven of the 15 seats to remain in power.
