India and Sweden fortify cooperation in Science &Tech; sign three agreements

India and Sweden signed three agreements yesterday related to Science and Technology after delegation level talks were held between the two sides.

The agreements were related to and signed between the following agencies:

1. A Protocol of Cooperation between the Department of Science and Technology (Government of India) and the Swedish Energy Agency.

2. A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in polar science between the Ministry of Earth Sciences (Government of India) and the Ministry of Education and Research of Sweden.

3. The third agreement is related to promotion of safety of maritime environment. It will lead to recognition of sea fearer certificates pursuant to Regulation 1/10 of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch.

These agreements are also in addition to discussions related to the field of sustainable transport, artificial intelligence and climate change mitigation technologies.

The Royal Couple of Sweden are currently on a five-day visit to India along with a Ministerial and Business delegation. Right after their arrival yesterday in Delhi, they participated in a series of high-level meetings aimed at enhancing the level of ties between the two countries.

The King received a round of applause on the social media when he was seen carrying his own bag and it was considered to be a sign of humility.

They are also expected to visit the city of Mumbai and the state of Uttarakhand.

This is their second visit in 26 years to India.
