After taking oath as Deputy CM, Ajit Pawar said: “From result day to this day no party was able to form government, Maharashtra was facing many problems including farmer issues, so we decided to form a stable government.”

While CM Fadnavis said: “People had given us a clear mandate, but Shiv Sena tried to ally with other parties after results, as a result, President’s rule was imposed. Maharashtra needed a stable government not a ‘khichdi’ government.”

After the duo took oath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated both the leaders, saying: “Congratulations to Devendra Fadnavis ji and Ajit Pawar ji on taking oath as the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively. I am confident they will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra.”

BJP president and home minister Amit Shah also congratulated both the leaders, saying: “Heartiest congratulations to Devendra Fadnavis ji and Ajit Pawar on swearing-in the chief minister of Maharashtra and Deputy Chief Minister of the state. I am confident that this government will be continuously committed to the development and welfare of Maharashtra and will set new standards of progress in the state.”

Reacting to the development, NCP chief Sharad Pawar tweeted: “Ajit Pawar’s decision to support the BJP to form the Maharashtra Government is his personal decision and not that of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). We place on record that we do not support or endorse this decision of his.”
