In a shocking incident, a professor of GB Pant University in Uttarakhand allegedly asked a girl student to come to his house at midnight and cook for him as his wife was not at home.
Reports inform that the incident came to light after the girl student complained to the vice-chancellor (VC) that the professor was allegedly making calls to her at midnight and disturbed her.

The girl stated that when she disconnected his call, he would repeatedly call her. However, Pant University registrar AP Sharma informed that the professor has already been removed from the post of warden. Describing the ordeal, the girl alleged that one midnight the professor sent a text message wishing her on her birthday and then called her up and said ‘my wife is not home, who will cook, you come’.
The report states that the girl showed the messages that the professor sent as a proof, but the university committee has not taken strong action against the professor. Dr Salil Tewari, dean, student welfare, Pant University was quoted in the report saying that the issue was raised by a girl before the VC at the university disciplinary committee meeting held in October. In the wake of the incident, the report stated that Governor Baby Rani Maurya has instructed the vice-chancellor to investigate the matter and take strict action against the professor. The governor has also instructed university authorities to ensure that a safe environment is provided to all female students of the Pant university.
