Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority on Friday declared a public health emergency in Delhi NCR as the air quality crossed the severe+ level.
It also prohibited construction activities in the region till the morning of November 5, 2019, and banned cracker burning completely for the entire winter period.
On the other hand, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that all the schools in the national capital will be closed till November 5.

The region has been trapped in a toxic smog since Diwali. Earlier in the day, Kejriwal described the city as a “gas chamber” while distributing breathing masks to school children.
