Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, will visit India beginning from October 31 with an aim to further strategic ties in an array of key areas including defense and security.
The Chancellor will be accompanied by several Ministers and State Secretaries of the Federal Government, as well as a high-powered business delegation.
On November 1, in the morning, there will be a Ceremonial Reception at the Rashtrapati Bhawan post which the German Chancellor will meet ‘Indian Women leaders’ at Hotel ‘The Oberoi’. She will then meet the Prime Minister of India at Hyderabad House.
The Chancellor will attend the Fifth Biennial Inter-Governmental Consultations after which there will be press statements and business meetings. She will then also visit the Gandhi Smriti, call on Rashtrapatiji and have a restricted meeting with the Prime Minister.
On November 2, there will be meetings with Business Delegation at Hotel Taj Mahal, then a visit to ‘Continental Automotive Components India Pvt Ltd’ at IMT Manesar, Gurgaon and finally Merkel will be going to the Dwarka Sector 21 Metro station.
India and Germany have established a Strategic Partnership that is characterized by a high degree of trust and mutual understanding. The two Leaders have regularly interacted on the sidelines of multilateral meetings. Germany is a leading trade and investment partner.
During the IGC, the two sides will discuss the deepening of cooperation in traditional sectors such as transport, skill development and energy, and explore possibilities for cooperation in newer areas like green urban mobility, AI, etc. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global matters of mutual interest.
