Fake Alert! This picture of India wasn’t captured by NASA on Diwali night

Date:

A picture of the Indian sub-continent is being shared on social media with a claim that NASA captured the picture on Diwali night.

The caption reads: ”India at night during Diwali NASA.”

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the post to be very OLD. Let’s break it to make things simpler;

  1. This stunning image of India was not taken this year, it was not taken by NASA and it is not even a real photograph.

2. A Mashable report from 2012 says that this image ‘is a composite of satellite photos of India created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 2003.’

Hence, this proves that this viral post is FAKE.
