RBI is not taking back Rs 2000 currency notes; don’t believe the FAKE message

A message is being widely circulated on social media claiming that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is taking back all the Rs 2,000 notes and releasing new Rs 1,000 notes.

The viral message read: “Reserve Bank taking back all the Rs.2000/- notes. You can only exchange Rs.50,000/- in 10 days. So, kindly start changing your 2000/- notes immediately. After 10th October 2019 you cannot change your Rs.2000 notes.”

The central bank has no plan of scrapping Rs 2000 notes. We scanned through the official website of RBI where no such circular and notification was issued by the central bank.

Moreover, there has been no such report by any of the reputed media about the above news.
