Former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and NCP leader, Ajit Pawar has quit as a legislator after the Enforcement Directorate decided to register a case and summon him and his party chief and uncle, Sharad Pawar for questioning.
The ED had registered a case in a suspected matter of money laundering in a cooperative bank involving Rs 25,000 crores.
Ajit Pawar said that he was resigning as he didn’t want his uncle to get involved in a case pertaining to him.
He had also said that the bank had lent to distressed farmers and it did nothing wrong.
He praised his uncle and said that whatever he has achieved in politics was due to him.
He also termed this case as a witch hunt ahead of the polls in the state due on October 21st.
