Three terrorists were shot dead after they took a civilian hostage in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Satuday.
Police said that the hostage was rescued after a nearly five-hour-long standoff.
“Three terrorists have been killed. The hostage has been rescued. Two police officials sustained bullet injuries and an Army personnel died. Operation is over now. They are the same terrorists who were seen in the morning,” Jammu Inspector General of Police (IG) Mukesh Singh told news agency ANI.
“We have killed three terrorists in the gunfight, which has ended. One soldier was also killed in action,” Army spokesperson in Jammu region Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand told news agency PTI.

The operation was conducted by Army, J&K Police and CRPF officials in the Jammu-Srinagar Highway town.
The encounter in Batote in Ramban district started around 12:30 pm when the three terrorists tried to stop a passenger bus on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
Three terrorists entered a house in Batote in the morning while attempting to flee the security forces after engaging in a gunfight with them.
