Date:

In a development that gave Indians immense hope, ISRO official on September 9 said that Chandrayaan 2 mission lander ‘Vikram’ has been found lying on the lunar surface in a single piece in a titled position after having a hard-landing.

Later images with claims that the latest photos of the Vikram lander as released by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) started to trend;

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above images and found the claim attached to it to be FAKE.

ISRO had lost contact with the Chandrayaan 2 space mission’s ‘Vikram’ lander which attempted a soft-landing on the moon on September 7.

The search results showed that the image was picked up from an article on the official US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) website.

However, this is fake, as pointed out by space journalist, Jonathan O’Callaghan.

Hence, the above information proves that these viral posts are FAKE.
