New Delhi: A man allegedly set his motorbike on fire after Delhi traffic police issued a challan to him for violating traffic rules in Delhi’s Sheikh Sarai area on Thursday.
Police said the man was in an inebriated condition. As the new Motor Vehicles Act kicked in on Sunday, September 1, the police issued as many as 3,900 challans till the evening on the first day.

Under the new Act, higher penalties for traffic violations came into effect from Sunday. In one of such incidents, one scooty rider was fined Rs 23,000 in Gurugram for not carrying his vehicle’s documents.
