Section 144 withdrawn from Jammu, schools and colleges to reopen tomorrow

Authorities on Friday withdrew the order under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure from within the municipal limits of Jammu District and schools will open on Saturday.

Section 144 restricting gathering of more than 4 people has been withdrawn from Jammu Municipal limits, said Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Magistrate (DM) of Jammu District.

“Section 144 (gathering of more than 4 people banned) withdrawn from Jammu Municipal limits. All school, and colleges to open tomorrow (August 10),” Chauhan told news agency ANI.

Section 144 was imposed in the backdrop of the annulment of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammy and Kashmir into two Union Territories – Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, on Friday.

Besides, in Jammu, the situation is normal. In Kashmir, the situation is under control. All steps necessary to maintain law and order will be taken, says Police, Law and Order, Muneer Khan in Kathua.
