Ever wonder how many startups are there in India? If not, here is the answer.
Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Thursday that there are 19,000 startups in the country.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha, he said, “There are 19,000 startups in India out of which 7,000 startups are tech startups. 8 startups have become unicorns.”

The Union minister also said that electronics production in India has grown immensely in last five years, and Value of electronics products was ₹1.90 Lakh Crore in 2014-15 which has increased to ₹4.58 Lakh Crore in 2018-19.
He also praised the effort of the UP government in supporting electronics manufacturing sector. He said, “I wish to appreciate the effort of Government of Uttar Pradesh led by CM Yogi Adityanath Ji for their efforts in supporting electronics manufacturing. NOIDA and Greater NOIDA alone has 93 mobile manufacturing units.”
