New Delhi: Today in Parliament, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien initiated the discussion on electoral reforms in Rajya Sabha and listed out ‘One Nation, One Poll’ as one of the issues.
He initiated the discussion after 12 opposition parties, including Congress, gave notice in the Upper House.

- Congress leader Kapil Sibal said the Election Commission was sleeping during 2019 LS polls, pointing out how votes were gathered in the name of Indian soldiers.

5. The Dentists (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed in the Lok Sabha.
6. In the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai says there is no proposal to scrap the provision under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) dealing with the offence of sedition, reports ANI.
7. Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad introduced The New Delhi International Arbitration Centre Bill, 2019 in Lok Sabha.
8. Congress MP Manish Tewari raised in the Lok Sabha the issue of falling defence allocation in the Union Budget and pointed out that China’s defence spending has been growing.

On the other hand, in the world of politics, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi affirmed that he is no longer that Congress president and the party should decide on a new chief without any delay.
He said, “Party should decide on the new president quickly without further delay, I’m nowhere in this process. I have already submitted my resignation and I am no longer the party president. CWC should convene a meeting at the earliest and decide.”
The ongoing Monsoon Session, which began on June 17, will continue till July 26. The first session of Lok Sabha will provide 30 sittings spread over 40 days in Lok Sabha and 27 sittings spread over 37 days sittings in the Rajya Sabha.
The Economic Survey will be presented on Thursday, July 4, followed by the Union Budget for 2019-20 on July 5.
