World famous south Indian food eatery, Saravana Bhavan, has a rich legacy to boast of. The rag to riches story of P. Rajagopal was an example of a man who made south Indian food famous across the world.
But on Sunday, founder, 71-year-old Rajagopal, will start his life sentence for a murder case.
Always known for his crisp white dressing, he was popular with his employees. But one wrong decision led to his life’s biggest mistake.
In the early 2000s, Rajagopal reportedly took an astrologer’s advice to want to marry an employee’s daughter, who was already married.
The young woman in question, rejected his advances, but Rajagopal would not take a no for an answer. He tried everything – from coercion to threats and even exorcisms, but noting worked. He finally ordered for the husband of the woman to be murdered.

The eatery chain is managed now by his sons.
