New Delhi: A local fight over a scooter parking took a communal turn in old Delhi’s Chawri Bazaar area on Monday after a place of worship was vandalised.
Following the incident, in a bid to ensure peace, the security in the Lal Kuan locality has been beefed.
Reportedly, it all started when a 20-year-old local was parking his scooter outside a building on Sunday night and a resident of the building who runs a tea stall objected the man to park his vehicle in front of his shop.
The 20-year old left, but returned with more men who were ‘probably drunk’ and thrashed the tea vendor.
According to reports, three separate cases have been registered in connection with the incident. A case has been registered based on the scooter owner’s statement, the other case is based on the statement by the building resident and the third case was lodged against unknown persons for rioting and damaging public property.
While the cops took both parties to the police station for questioning, according to reports, some unknown people gathered outside a place of worship in the area and vandalised it which led to the tension in the area.
