Today, the film industry is remembering late veteran Bollywood actor Amrish Puri on his 87th birth anniversary.

Google, too, is celebrating the life and legacy of the legendary  Bollywood actor. Being famous for playing the antagonists in movies, some of his iconic roles include Mogambo in Mr India and Chaudhry Baldev Singh – Simran’s father in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Here is a list of the most iconic Bollywood villains of the film industry with, of course, Amrish Puri’s topping the list-

1) Mogambo, Mr India

Mogambo is one of the famous and most evil Indian villains. The role was played by Amrish Puri and the famous Mogambo dialogue, “Mogambo khush hua,” became synonymous with the actor.

2)Gabbar, Sholey

This iconic character was played by Amjad Khan. Dialogues like “kitne aadmi the” and “Yeh haath mujhe de de Thakur” are the first ones which come into one’s mind when they think of Bollywood villains.

3) Shakaal, Shaan

Shakaal’s character, played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda, was inspired from the west. This villain was the epitome of coolness. He had his own island with sharks and crocodiles along with fancy gadgets.

4) Lion, Kalicharan(Teja)

This character was played by Ajit. This guy was a suave, classy villain with an accent. His confident wrong pronunciation of the word ‘lion’ made him famous.

Ajit also enacted the role of Teja, the guy with a golden wig, who is yet another negative character to remember. “Saara shehar mujhe Loin ke name se jaanta hai” was his iconic dialogue. His individual style and characteristic accent sets him apart from other villains

5) Prem, Bobby

This character was played by Prem Chopra, and he was really the king of all villains. No one can forget the way he said the famous dialogue “Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra”. He won hearts even when he mostly portrayed devilish roles.

6) Robert, Amar Akbar Anthony

This character was played by Jeevan, who was the most common bad boy in the 60s and 70s. Robert was an over-the-top villain who is most remembered for his dialogue delivery.

7) Ranjeet, Amir Garib

Played by Ranjeet himself, this was a guy with evil intentions. In fact, Ranjeet has committed almost 350 rapes on screen, which makes one wonder about Indian cinema. You can never forget his locket and that lust in his eyes ever. He is undoubtedly one of the characters who got more famous than the real heroes.
