FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, we found it to be false.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search and using keywords like Modi Masjid, Banglore, through a Google search, we came across a video by Bengaluru Times.

In the video, President of Modi Masjid, Maulana Syed Altaf Ahmed, says that the mosque was built almost 170 years ago and it was named after Modi Abdul Ghafoor, a wealthy donor.

“The Modi Masjid is more than 170 years old. Hazrat Modi Abdul Ghafoor contributed towards the construction of the mosque. During those days, only 60-70 people could offer prayers in the mosque.”

Hence, this proves that Modi masjid is not named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi as claimed in the above posts.
