A picture post is making rounds on social media which claims that Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, had written to the United Nations appealing that ‘Muslims are not safe in India’.

The text in Hindi read: ओवैसी ने UN को पत्र लिखा कि हिंदुस्तान में मुसलमान सेफ़ नहीं है| 

UN से जवाब आया जहाँ पर सेफ हो वहाँ चले जाओ|

(Translation: Owaisi wrote to the UN that Muslims are not safe in India.

The answer came from the UN that ‘go where you feel safe’.

At the time of filing this report, the above post was shared by close to 6,000 Facebook users.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile, fact-checked the above post, we found it to be FALSE.

NewsMobile contacted Asaduddin Owaisi and he confirmed that he hasn’t written any such letter to the United Nations.

“I’ve written no such letter to the United Nations. This is an absolute lie,” Owaisi told NewsMobile.

Hence, this proves that the viral post about Owaisi FAKE.
