The first session of the parliament which began on Monday (June 17) continued on Tuesday and several leaders such as Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol and Hema Malini among others took the oath.

Around 222 newly-elected Members of Parliament (MPs) took the Oath of House on the second day of the 17th Lok Sabha.

Besides that, the BJP MP from Rajasthan’s Kota, Om Birla, was elected as the NDA’s candidate for the post of Lok Sabha speaker. He will take oath on Wednesday and the opposition has accepted his candidature.

Meanwhile, Congress has also named Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury as leader of the party in the 17th Lok Sabha.

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi also took oath as a Member of Parliament.

BJP’s winning candidate from Mathura, Hema Malini took oath as a Member of Parliament. She concluded her oath with “Radhe Radhe! Krishnam Vande, Jagat Guru.”

Slogans of Vande Mataram raised in Lok Sabha after Samajwadi Party’s MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq says, “Jahan tak Vande Mataram ka taaluq hai, it is against Islam we cannot follow it” after concluding his oath.

 

Bhojpuri star Ravi Kishan takes oath as member of Parliament

The first session of Lok Sabha will provide 30 sittings spread over 40 days in Lok Sabha and 27 sittings spread over 37 days sittings in the Rajya Sabha.

The government will introduce several key bills, including triple talaq. The budget will be presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 5.
