5 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were reportedly martyred and a few others others critically injured in a militant attack after a police party in Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) on Wednesday.
As per the police, one militant was also killed in the firing which is still going on.
The attack took place near a bus stand at KP Chowk where militants in vehicles opened fire at the security forces, said CRPF sources.
The CRPF jawans were on duty in the area and the injured personnel were taken to Janglat Mandi Hospital.
In February, a suicide attacker in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama rammed his vehicle laden with explosives into the CRPF bus with over 40 jawans onboard. All the personnel on the bus were martyred in the attack. Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed took responsibility for the heinous attack.
Further details are awaited.
