Robben and Ribery help Bayern win 7th successive Bundesliga title

Date:

Bayern Munich won their seventh consecutive Bundesliga title after they picked up a 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Two points clear at the top ahead of Borussia Dortmund, Bayern had to win or draw their game against Adi Hutter’s men to win the league. At Borussia Park, Dortmund faced Borussia Monchengladbach and had to win to stand a chance of winning the Bundesliga for the first time since 2012.

But Bayern started well, scoring through Kingsley Coman in the fourth minute. Dortmund scored a goal of their own against Gladbach, with Jadon Sancho grabbing the first right before half time.

Sebastian Haller did equalize for Frankfurt and gave hopes to many Bvb fans, but Bayern sweeped them apart in the new 20 minutes.

Two goals in the space of 5 minutes from Renato Sanches and David Alaba took them to a 3-1 lead, as Dortmund grabbed their second.

The scene was set for Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben to come in and cap off their amazing Bayern careers in their last game for the club.

Ribery put one past Kevin Trapp in sensational and trademark style in the 72nd minute and Robben made it 5 in the 78th minute. The Dutchman came close to his 100th ever goal for the Bavarians, but the ball went inches wide twice.

The end of the game saw Ribery and Robben get hugged by all the players in an emotional tribute to two modern day footballing legends whose legacy at the club will live on for a long time.
