Amitabh Bachchan and actor Ayushmann Khurrana are teaming up for the first time on the big screen in filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming film “Gulabo Sitabo”. The film is a family comedy, which is set in Lucknow and will release in November this year.
The film has been penned by Sircar’s frequent collaborator Juhi Chaturvedi who has earlier written ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Piku’ and ‘October’.
Director Shoojit Sircar said in an interview, “Me and Juhi have been working on this script for quite some time…and as we all know when Juhi comes up with a story it has her trademark quirk in it.
“As soon as I read it, I was extremely excited and shared it with Ronnie, my dear friend and producer and to both Mr Bachchan and Ayushmann at the same time,” he added.

Earlier the plan was to take time and develop the idea and the script but the producers and everyone else on board felt that they should expedite the process and the film should be released this year itself.
Shoojit added that he wanted to work with Big B again and Ayushmann also fit perfectly well for the role.
As for the film’s title, Gulabo Sitabo is used colloquially by the locals in Lucknow and is connected to the film.
