The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear bail plea of BJP youth wing worker Priyanka Sharma, who was arrested for sharing a morphed picture of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Admitting the bail plea of Sharma, a bench of Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Sanjiv Khanna said, “We will hear the bail plea of BJP youth wing worker Priyanka Sharma on Tuesday.”

Priyanka, a member of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Bengal’s Howrah, posted an image of Mamata Banerjee’s face photo-shopped on Priyanka Chopra’s Met Gala look on her Facebook account. She was arrested on Friday and sent to jail for 14 days.
Priyanka Sharma was arrested by the Howrah Cyber Crime Branch for sharing the meme on Banerjee. TMC leader Vibhas Hazra had filed a complaint against the BJP worker. TMC leaders said that that sharing the CM’s photoshopped pics was a grave crime and it was insulting the CM of the state.
