No! Akshay Kumar did not say he came to India just to make money

Recently, Akshay found himself in a controversy on social media as the issue was that he wasn’t seen voting even though his wife Twinkle Khanna was present at the polling booth.

It became the content for memes and also some even questioned his Canadian citizenship.

Amidst all the drama, a post is being shared on social media claiming that Akshay Kumar has made a statement- “मैं भारत का नागरिक नहीं हु, मैं भारत में सिर्फ पैसे कमाने आता हु | मेरा असली देश कनाडा है |”

(Translation- I am not a citizen of India, I come to India just to earn money. My real country is Canada)

We found a tweet by Akshay Kumar on his official Twitter handle in which he clarifies that he has never denied that he holds a Canadian passport but he hasn’t visited the country in the last seven years. He works in India and pays all his taxes in India.

He further added that he would like to continue to contribute in small ways to the causes that he believes in and make India stronger.
