How the inclusion of art in your daily life can help combat stress

Stress preoccupies almost every young mind in today’s day and age, be it stress from school, work, emotional, physical or sexual, the hustle and bustle of everyday life really contributes to it.

The main cause of concern is the fact that most people do not feel the need to manage this stress in healthy ways which ends up causing more damage than already done. Stress has a way of manifesting itself in really ugly ways, hence it is important to unwind and relax.

Using the various benefits that art has in store for us will help express one’s creative side and help you get in touch with your inner thoughts.

We all enjoyed this as a kid, be its getting your hand dirty while sculpting something or just simply colouring in the lines, so why not go back to our primitive ways and connect to our inner child sometimes?

-Adult colouring books – This is a perfect options for those who feel that they do not possess the skill set to sketch, people who indulge in this activity have claimed that it helps them feel more relaxed and calms their senses. It is a great pre bedtime activity before you get your required hours of sleep.

-Pottery – Hands on art is a great way of self care and connecting with your inner self. Clay moves with the movements of your hand and can take the shape as you desire, thus it is a subtle form of art that is perfect after a long hard day at work with the additional benefit of adding a cute piece of decor to your life.

-Sketch diary – This is a simple way of unwinding and very abstract in nature, a sketch diary incorporates random sketches that are a visual representation relevant to one’s everyday life as well as things that bring you happiness in life. Revisiting these sketches can help you focus on the greater joys of life while combating the problem at hand by drawing your thoughts out.

-Photography – Contrary to popular belief photography is not about making everything around you pretty, it is about appreciating everything around you when life overwhelms you. Photography enables one to step out of their comfort zone while feeling more connected with nature or anything that catches our eye.
